Gainesville Theatre Alliance Announces 2023-24 Season

(AUG 16, 2023—GAINESVILLE, GA) Gainesville Theatre Alliance proudly announces its 2023-24 season, promising an enchanting blend of drama, laughter, and magic. “We designed this season to be one that shares a little more levity and light to raise our hearts and minds, with perhaps a singular dip into the dramatic,” said Artistic Director Zechariah Pierce. “We want to invite patrons, both new and long-standing, to return to the theatre.”

    WonderQuest presents the classic Narnia tale. That master of imaginative enchantment, C.S. Lewis, has created a unique world and he invites children to walk into it and enjoy both surprise and adventure.

    Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. This captivating drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society.

    April 12-20, 2024 at University of North Georgia-Gainesville’s Ed Cabell Theatre
    Winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny book by Rachel Sheinkin and a fresh, vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.

Additionally, GTA is offering a special holiday add-on performance in December. An Actor’s Carol: One Clown’s Dickensian Marathon Toward Redemption, is adapted for the stage by David Weber, Tim Blewitt, & Zach Hilbun. This one-clown show will be performed by Georgia native David Weber at University of North Georgia-Gainesville’s Ed Cabell Theatre December 1-3, 2023. This kinetic production of Dicken’s cautionary tale is amplified with elements of clown, mime, and vaudeville techniques.

Tickets for all performances are on sale now. For the first time since 2019, GTA is thrilled to reintroduce season packages. Patrons can receive up to 20% off based on the number of shows they purchase. An Actor’s Carol is not eligible for package discounts.
