Admissions & Auditions

Admission into Gainesville Theatre Alliance is highly competitive. All BFA programs accept 12 students per academic year, while the BA Theatre program is capped at 20 students per year. Admission to all programs is by audition or interview only.

Students must also be accepted into their chosen university (either Brenau University or the University of North Georgia, depending on degree program) before final acceptance into any theatre degree program. Admission into GTA does not guarantee admission into our parent institutions. Likewise, admission into either of the universities does not guarantee admission into GTA. We encourage all candidates to apply for both universities and make decisions based on their desired collegiate experience.

Scholarships in all programs are awarded to students based on talent, commitment, and academic performance.

Applicants should apply through the GTA application portal and audition or interview in person at one of the three audition events held throughout the academic year. In special circumstances, students may be admitted via audition/interview at select theatre conferences or audition events, such as the College Audition Project (CAP) United Auditions, Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), ThesCon, or Georgia Theatre Conference.
